Knights of Columbus Council 6213 Hamilton,NJ

ABOUT OUR COUNCIL
The Hamilton Township Council of the Knights of Columbus received its charter on March 31, 1970. The 107 Charter Brothers came as small groups of enthusiastic friends and neighbors. They were motivated by the high ideals and principles of the Knights of Columbus; Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism; and they quickly discovered an organization whereby they could openly express their love of God, their love of country, and their concern for their fellow man.

We are forever indebted to the organizers of our council, such as then district deputy Anthony "Jack" DiAgostino, and the charter members who established the framework for us. However, all of this would have been more difficult were it not for the encouragement given by the pastors of Our lady of Sorrows and Saint Raphael's, the late Fr. Edward J. O'Keefe and the late Fr. Wilfrid B. Emmons.

The Council matured quickly under the leadership of our Grand Knights. Realistic programs and goals were established keeping in mind the need to be active and to be involved. However, caution was taken not to overextend our commitments and thereby weaken earlier successes. Over the years, others joined our ranks and increased our capabilities. As a result, the number of programs was increased.

Amid all the accomplishments of these past years, certain events are significant enough to emblazon themselves more vividly in our history. Among these we count the formation on June 11, 1972 of our Columbiettes; the organization of our degree team; the inauguration of our memorial mass to commemorate deceased Brothers; our first honorary lifemember; the inception of our annual "Tootsie Roll" campaign for the benefit of retarded citizens; and our lady of Sorrows School for God's Exceptional Children, which is totally supported by our brother Knights and Sister Columbiettes; and the purchase of land on which our Council Home now stands at Klockner Road and Route 295 overpass.
